World Games 2000

The 14th World Games was held at the "Centre Sportif La Fraineuse" in Spa, Belgium, July 22nd - 26th 2001.

Because of difficulties for the african countries to receive a visa for Belgium the number of participants were strongly reduced. Now, only 49 players arrived, but nevertheless it was to be an unforgettable tournament.

The venue, "Centre Sportif La Fraineuse", was perfect for the event. The games were played in one hall next to the accommodation. Beacuse of the limited number of participants the atmosphere was great.
Even though there were no social activities planned everyone helped out to create a collective party the last evening.

The 49 players were divided into six teams. In the qualifying round all teams played everyone once.
After the qualifying round, the first four went on to play semifinals, while the last two teams played each other.

The draw was traditionally held in the evening of the first day, Sunday July 22nd.
