The 14th World Games was held at the "Centre Sportif La Fraineuse" in Spa, Belgium, July 22nd - 26th 2001. You can find pictures from this event in the six galleries which you reach through the links in the upper right corner. Because of difficulties for the african countries to receive a visa for Belgium the number of participants were strongly reduced. Now, only 49 players arrived, but nevertheless it was to be an unforgettable tournament. The venue, "Centre Sportif La Fraineuse",
was perfect for the event. The games were played in one hall next to the
accommodation. Beacuse of the limited number of participants the atmosphere
was great. The 49 players were divided into six teams. In the
qualifying round all teams played everyone once. The draw was traditionally held in the evening of the first day, Sunday July 22nd. The qualifying round matches were played as follows:
