The third World Cup in intercrosse was held in Lecco and Oliginate, Italy: April 12th - 17th, 2001.
This was the third men's and the first for women's World Cup.
Teams from two new nations attended the men's tournament:
Switzerland and Ghana.
When the two favourites met in the qualifying rounds
Québec got the upper hand and won 31-28.
The women's tournament was surely a memorable one,
especially since this was the first World Cup for women.
also, the final was to be played between the two favourites: Czech Republic
