It is natural for a player to hold the cross on the side of the body. Normally a right-handed player hold the cross on the right side of the body and a left-handed player on the left side. If you are right-handed, keep your right hand just below the basket in the middle of the cross and your left hand at the bottom of the cross. Left-handers' reverse the procedure. The grip should be firm but relaxed.
There are basically three different grips used in intercrosse: We also have excercises for you to practice these grips in our "Tips & Tricks: Exercises" section. High gripThe high grip is performed by placing the upper hand just below the basket and the lower hand in the middle of the shaft. This grip is mainly used when... ...directing the ball with precision.
Medium gripThe medium grip is performed by placing the upper hand in the middle of the cross and the lower hand at the bottom of the shaft. This is grip is mainly used during movement.
Low gripThe low grip is performed by placing both hands around
the lower part of the shaft.
